Warderick Wells to Staniel Cay
February 16 - Warderick Wells to Staniel Cay
We had a beautiful sail from Warderick to Staniel. We were able to sail off the mooring and didn’t turn the engine on until making our approach to Staniel Cay. It was a wonderful 5-hour sail mostly tacking into the fresh 15kt breeze with gusts to 17. I commented to Peter that I was feeling proud of myself because such breezes used to scare me and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip! Peter said back, “Wow! Not afraid of the wind, but terrified of geckos!” (It’s true! The little lizards running around Warderick Wells freaked me out!)
There are 2 other Caliber sailboats in the anchorage so we went over and made friends with both other boats. Such nice people willing to share their experiences!
We also met up with Ian whom we had met back in Naples when we were moored there! So fun to connect with him again!
Dinner and drinks at the Staniel Cay Yacht Club rounded out the day quite nicely! We met Ian and other fellow sailors to swap stories and tell tales of living on a boat.
