Rock Sound Harbour
We are anchored near a town for the first time in over 2 weeks. That means provisioning!!
Wanting to be near the grocery store, we took the dinghy to a very sketchy boat launch that was carved out of the rock on the shore. To avoid having to carry our 140 lb. dinghy and motor, Peter quickly created a “ramp” for us by placing logs across the rock. It sure was nice to be able to just slide it over the logs.
With the dinghy secured on land, we walked the 1/2 mile or so to the grocery store. On the way, we stopped in at the local liquor store and enjoyed the banter and a little taste of local rum from the proprietress. She was quite witty and knowledgeable about the local fare.
Our next stop was a visit with a woman selling locally woven baskets and jewelry. She was another delight happy to share her wares and knowledge about the area. We now have a new basket aboard Dagny.
Then it was on to the well-stocked grocery store for much-needed fresh fruits and vegetables. We filled our backpacks and headed back to the dinghy landing.
Back aboard Dagny, we completed the process of bleach-washing and sun-drying everything we purchased before stowing it all away. We ended the day aboard Norbert and Joni’s catamaran, s/v It’s Time, sharing snacks and sailing stories.
Life is good! 🌴🌴🌴
