Happy Easter from Rock Sound Harbour, Eleuthera
We rounded out our visit to Rock Sound Harbour with a run to get fuel, a stroll through town, and a hike to the nearby Cathedral Caves.
The town is filled with the usual Bahamian charm: pretty painted buildings interspersed with half-finished or crumbling remnants of this once-thriving community.
The caves were well worth the short walk from town. Incredible to see tree roots coming through the rock ceiling and finding their way to the floor of the cave. We imagined it to be a good place for long-ago island residents to seek refuge in a hurricane!
Our final evening was spent with friends Norbert and Joni aboard s/v It’s Time playing board games and catching the latest Falcon rocket launch for Starlink. Amazing to see that bright “jellyfish” streaking across the night sky!
This morning we were up early, pulled the anchor, and enjoyed a warm, sunny, and breezy day with ideal winds taking us further north up the Eleutheran shore. It was a glorious sail. Maybe a new Easter tradition for us.
Love all of this! Enjoy reading about your routines, right down to what’s needed to do even after buying fresh vegetables and fruit! Love the maps- great visual on what’s done to navigate through the waters, and in and around the islands. Impressive!!! Thanks for sharing ❤️
So cool! I hope you are enjoying your trip.
New adventure everyday. Maybe Lana would like to do it next year. By the way, I know what happened to the case of wine. Somehow, it was sent back to us by way of Singapore, Australia and Spain???, I'll hold it here for you.
Those roots are WAY better than corn prop roots. ;) Keep living in the present!
