In the Pond at Normans Cay, Exumas
We’ve spent the last few days here in Normans Pond. We came here because the weather was supposed to be stormy and this is a perfect anchorage for bad weather. We are protected on all sides from wind and the bottom is good sand so our anchor is dug in deep and we have not moved.
As predicted, the weather yesterday was pretty crummy: lots of big wind, rain, thunder, and lightning. A good day to do some cleaning, reading, and making yummy food. The good folks on s/v Paper Sails are anchored next to us. They said the biggest wind they recorded was 45kts. (50+ mph)!! We remained safe and dry and happily stuck in the sand.
Today I took the dinghy to the beach while Peter worked on some electrical projects. Then this evening we met the folks anchored around us on the beach for the sunset. It’s always fun to connect with other sailors and to hear their stories. Most are on their second or third season sailing in the Bahamas so we always learn something new.
We will be here “in the pond” for the next couple of days waiting for the wind and waves to settle. It’s a nice place to be “stuck”.
I am very happy for both of you! Please enjoy your dream and sail on! Cavale misses you both, very much!,........as do I!
