Happy New Year!

Here’s a little peek at life on Dagny over the past couple of weeks.

We made a 67-hour, 311-mile passage across the Gulf of Mexico from Pensacola to Tarpon Springs. It was quite the adventure- some good, some not-so-fun, but overall a good experience.

From there we’ve cruised down the Florida Gulf coast and are currently anchored off Ft. Meyers Beach. It’s a very busy place with lots of boats! Quite the contrast from the usual secluded anchorages that we favor.

We’ve made some new friends along the way who are on journeys similar to ours. Some have spent the last 25 winters on their boat. We’ve also learned A Lot about tides and currents, pelicans, dolphins, and even manatees. Dolphins and pelicans visit Dagny daily, but they are terribly camera shy so it’s nearly impossible to get a picture!

We’ve witnessed the lingering effects of Hurricane Ian. Even though it was more than a year ago, shorelines that were once green are still brown with dead trees and vegetation, and boats that washed up on the shore are everywhere! So sad to see.

We’ve also walked through mangroves, to the grocery store, and to local breweries, seen beautiful sunrises and sunsets, caught rainwater to wash the boat, done routine maintenance, boat projects, and lots and lots of trip planning.

Life aboard is good. We welcome 2024 and all the adventures it will bring.

Happy New Year from the Dagny crew!❤️⛵️
