December 16 - Ingram Bay, AL
The last couple of days we worked on rigging the sails on Dagny so we can head into the Gulf of Mexico to do some real sailing. We plan to hug the coast along the panhandle heading east to Apalachicola, FL, and then jump off and head south from there. We spent yesterday and today getting the boat rigged, tuned, and ready to sail.
Inserting the batons on the mainsail
New tell tails added to help with sail trim
So happy to have the sails out of their bags!
Pausing for the 2:30 pelican and dolphin show.
The pelicans and dolphins are so entertaining! The dolphins swim around our boat and the pelicans follow them diving for fish to eat. We could watch them for hours.
Ready to raise the headsail.
Headsail rigged and ready!
Making sure the reef lines are run correctly.
In between dolphin and pelican shows and rigging the sails, I managed to make some granola and carrot muffins. The stovetop oven does a great job. I'm so glad we decided not to install a full oven on the boat!
Looking forward to our first full sail in the Gulf tomorrow!
