"Water, water every where nor any drop to drink"
For weeks, Peter has been working to install our watermaker. It was tricky integrating this new piece of technology with our dated plumbing system. In addition, the instructions were a somewhat poor translation from the Italian manufacturer. Through lots of trial and error, thinking, planning, and MacGyvering, today it all came together. We are now capable of making fresh, perfectly delicious drinking water from seawater using only solar power!
I’m using “we” rather liberally here. I mostly just stayed out of the way and occasionally offered super helpful questions like, “Would xxx work?”
The real work is all Peter’s.
Although fresh water is available most places in the Bahamas, and we’ve only had to pay for water twice, it sure is nice to be independently making our own. No more lugging heavy jugs from the town tap to our dinghy, then transferring those jugs to Dagny, and finally siphoning the water into our tanks. Now, with just a flip of a switch, we can draw sea water, send it through the watermaker, and then directly into our tanks. Voila! Fresh water for drinking, washing, and bathing!
Our Schenker Zen30 watermaker is truly a game-changer!
