Racine to Calumet Harbor
Yesterday we made our way the 46 miles from Racine to Calumet Harbor which is about 10 miles south of Chicago. The weather was sunny and the wind and waves were with us as we made our way along the shore. The artful dodger did a great job of keeping us out of the wind and spray from the waves. It was a fairly uneventful day but after 9 hours we were happy to drop the anchor and to be officially off the big lake.
I am feeling grateful to Lake Michigan for all she has taught me over the years. We enjoyed many a summer cruising her waters while remaining respectful of how fierce she can be. I feel well trained for the journey ahead.
So long Lake Michigan. Until we meet again. ❤️⛵️
YEAH!!!!!! Well done! I am jealous! Congratulations on your accomplishment. Preparing for this is a lot of hard work that few can fathom. For that alone, I congratulate you. I hope you guys soak it all up and relax. You earned it! So....I got a question.... What's with the outboard ??? Going for multiple redundancies?
So, so happy for you three!!! (Amy, Pete & DAGNY). And yes, a little, silent prayer of thanks to our mighty Lake Michigan for her reciprocal respect for you in your carefully planned “crawl” along her shores!
