December 15-20 Southport, NC to Beaufort, SC
This week we’ve been chasing the sun and the warmer weather heading south. We did a 30-hour, 150-mile passage from Southport, NC to Charleston, SC. It was a good passage with little wind so we motored the whole way. Mother Nature put on quite a show for us from moonlight sparkles on the water to rings around the rising sun and our own Teletubby-type cloud rainbow. It really was a beautiful passage.
Had we stayed on the ICW, our 30-hour trip would have been 3-4 days. It was nice to be offshore; much less stressful than navigating the ICW: no shoals, bridges, or other boats to worry about.
From Charleston, we stayed on the ICW to Beaufort, SC. Beaufort is a cute little town. Very friendly to us transient cruisers with a free day dock, nice park, and cute downtown area to explore.
Our days are spent trip planning, meal planning, organizing (still), doing various boat projects, and chasing the warm weather to the south. Life is good. ❤️⛵️
